Electro funk: Freestyle – Don’t Stop The Rock

Freestyle – Don’t Stop The Rock
Just before the Miami Bass sound took sunny Florida by a storm in the late eighties, one of the hottest acts coming out of Miami was Freestyle. Produced by Pretty Tony, Freestyle had some classic electro funk hits – The Party Has Begun, It’s Automatic, and this little number – Don’t Stop the Rock.
Freestyle had a classic electro sound, with funked out synthesizer basslines, hard hitting TR808 beats, plenty of cowbell and heavy on the vocoder lyrics, and Don’t Stop The Rock is a classic old school party jam!
A favourite with bboys, electro music freaks and old school rap fans alike, we know you are gone dig this so get listening right now!
Ps Happy New Year to all our readers! We kinda forgot in the purple haze, then from there shit has just been wild. OSC-001 is somewhere at the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef, and God only knows where RETALI8 is, undoubtedly inhaling dangerous levels of spraypaint fumes in some derelict warehouse or sipping Pérignon with the next big face of fashion – but rest assured we will be kicking some asses to make sure regular updates start rolling in again. With the next Cold Crush lineup and date about to be announced, vinyl and CD releases coming up on Zerohour and a whole stack of new and old music, a whole stack of exclusive electro mix action and classic electro funk history coming your way, you KNOW shit is gonna be popping off in 2010 baby.
