Zapp & Roger have got some serious electro funk sound going down!
Formed in 1978, they had dozens of top ten R&B hits over the years, the most famous of course being this little number – More Bounce To The Ounce. As you can hear, from the funk dripping synths to the heavy hand claps, their sound was a huge influence on early West Coast hip hop and G-funk.
They’ve also been sampled checked on countless hip hop tracks, most famously by EPMD in their track You Gots To Chill – and Roger and his talkbox famously guested on Tupac Shakur‘s hit California Love in ’96.
